Logistics Skills Shortage!

Given the nature of supply chain management, and the growing complexity of the sector, there will be continued demand for specialist training and development in supply chain specializations (e.g., purchasing, customs). In order to minimize the fragmentation that many diverse offerings within a sector create, it is recommended that associations collaborate or partner to some degree to consolidate and deliver a common foundation upon which to build a specialization. Further, and as is the case between most universities and with some professional associations (e.g., CICA), that reciprocal arrangements and cross-recognition of certification standards and common bodies of knowledge be developed. This will serve to simplify the current array of fragmented and varying degrees of duplicative offerings and standards in the eyes of the applicants and candidates, and begin to create a common supply chain training and development “platform” for professional certification and recognition.

Middle East economy is solely based on availibility of fossil fuel. This is not an inexhaustible source of cheap energy from the bowels of the earth. The widening gap between demand and supply is already having a telling effect on the world with galloping price of petroleum products. This in turn is adding to the rising cost of food production and cost of all other basic necessities and products.
It is therefore fitting that curriculum formulated for any TLM course should address steps to obviate this over dependence on fossil fuel for transportation, logistics and overall economy of the Middle Eastern Nations.

TLC and Retail Management are becoming highly specialised in view of quick movement of commodities. Time is the constraint. Moving a million tons of goods from one continent to another is no problem if time factor is no consideration. When it has to be moved in a day then Management issues relevant to the time scheduled task becomes complex. Well then the TLC and Retailing Management assumes great importance and these concepts should be dove tailed in the training modules. Suresh and his team are doing a yeoman service in imparting training suited to the needs of the modern industry. Keep it up.
